Lock production at the turn of the century
Padlock production in Volmarstein in Westphalia, where Burg-Wächter has its headquarters, can be traced back to 1750:

The traditional lock-smiths were numerous and even at the turn of the century there were still many production workshops in Volmarstein. As industry got foothold, lock-making companies developed with internationally known names.

BURG, founded in 1890, soon developed into a market leader in the field of locks. It was Alfred Lüling who started in 1920 selling BURG padlocks under his brandname of Burg-Wächter.

Things were different then...

... so people say. But if we zoom in a little we find that in the foreground there have always been people. People make contacts, manufacture goods, do business and make history. The customer is at the centre of our thinking. And that has always been the case.
